Jacob Fondriest, MD

Dr. Fondriest is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in complex cataract and corneal surgery, anterior segment disease, and keratorefractive procedures such as LASIK and PRK. He brings advanced training and a patient-centered approach to each of his cases.

Originally from Ohio, Dr. Fondriest earned his undergraduate degree in Biophysics from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, graduating summa cum laude. He went on to receive his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, followed by residency training in Ophthalmology at Rush University in Chicago. To further hone his expertise, he completed a prestigious fellowship in Cornea and External Disease, Anterior Segment Surgery, and Refractive Surgery at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Palm Beach Gardens—ranked consistently the #1 eye hospital in the nation.

Dr. Fondriest is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is an active member of several leading professional organizations, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the Cornea Society.

His clinical interests include cataract surgery, partial and full-thickness corneal transplants (DMEK, DSEK, and penetrating keratoplasty), and treatment of corneal conditions such as Fuchs’ dystrophy, keratoconus, corneal edema, and corneal scarring. He also performs combined cataract and MIGS (minimally invasive glaucoma surgery) procedures, as well as manages dislocated intraocular lenses, and infectious external eye diseases.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Fondriest enjoys spending time with his wife and their dog, Nellie. An avid runner, he regularly participates in races ranging from 5Ks to half-marathons.
